Healthy Drinks to Enjoy In The Office This January

Date: 13-01-2020

Was your Christmas packed with hot chocolate, trifle and coffees loaded with festive flavours? If so, you might be looking for some healthy alternatives when it comes to enjoying hot drinks in the office. We can’t promise that all are zero-calories, but they are certainly better for you than their sugary counterparts.

In this article, we’ll spill the beans on some delicious beverages that are low on calories and big on taste. And all can be made using boiling water or drinks direct from your coffee machine.

Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea is not only refreshing, but it’s also low-calorie and caffeine-free, too. It’s perfect to have any time of the day and can make you feel calm, refreshed and hydrated. When you are looking for that extra boost without the caffeine hit, peppermint tea is the perfect beverage.

Decaf Coffee

If you’re trying to lose weight or ditch the caffeine, decaf coffee can prevent those hunger spikes during the day and give you all the taste without the buzz. What’s more, thanks to advances in decaffeination processes, you can enjoy coffee that has the same great taste as caffeinated varieties.

Hot Water and Lemon

Simple, yes. Delicious, yes! For a fresh and zingy boost, simply squeeze some fresh lemon into a mug and top it with boiling water from the coffee machine. Let the hot water get to work for a few minutes, drawing out that gorgeous citrus flavour. If you are craving sugary drinks or lemonade, lemon water can make a good substitute without any guilt. Try to have it with breakfast or lunch to prevent the acids in the lemon from harming the enamel on your teeth.

Chai Tea

If you’re not quite ready to let go of the festive season just yet, Chai tea is a great option. But watch out for the coffee shop versions as these often contain high levels of sugar. You can create a healthier version in the office using a chai tea bag, hot water and low-fat milk. To add a little spice, sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Hot Chocolate

Forgive us for sneaking this one in, but we think everybody deserves a treat now and again. Hot chocolate from a coffee machine is around 90 calories so you won’t be blowing your calorie budget too much if you fancy something sweet.

When you are looking for a healthier hot drink with all the flavour and less fat and sugar, there are many options available. Many can be made with hot water directly from a coffee machine and many of our machines have healthier options programmed in.
